Just landed – Freia Ombre Worsted

I know that we’ve had this yarn in stock before but for some reason, this batch looks extra rich in color! This lovely ombré yarn is the work of Tina Whitmore of Freia Handpaints. It is made from USA raised sheep in Colorado and hand-painted in Tina’s California studio.

Worsted Yarn details:

  • 127 yards
  • 100% wool in a single ply
  • $26

Project inspirations:

Whether you are still creating holiday gifts or are ready to make something special for yourself, these top three project picks should be just what you need to dig into this amazingly colorful yarn!

1. Dot Dot Cowl

Ok so full disclosure, this pattern is in a magazine from a couple of years ago. BUT you can get the magazine digitally from Interweave, thank goodness. I really think this pattern is AMAZING. Grab one skein of Manos del Uruguay Maxima in a semi solid and one cake of Freia Worsted for this one. It is worked in the round as a tube in stranded colorwork.

2. Brioche Topper

This fun hat pattern by Laura Nelkin has a touch of brioche in the brim. She’s even included a video tutorial to teach you how to work brioche in the round! See the pattern and all the details here.

3. Ziggy Stardust

This cowl couldn’t have a better name! This design by local designer Tanis Gray features a solid and the Ombré Worsted. It’s also an introduction to fair isle class on our winter semester! Get in on Ravelry.
