Tool Tuesday: Vetiver Hearts

Tool Tuesday: Vetiver Hearts

Soon it will be time to pull sweaters and shawls and all sorts of garments out of storage, and add to your wardrobe with a whole new batch of hand knits. With the weather (maybe) cooling down, it’s time to consider those new projects to keep us cozy all winter. It’s also a good time to think about how we care for our hand knits.

Vetiver hearts come to us from Haiti, where this fragrant, tall grass is a native plant. The roots of the vetiver plants are harvested during the dry season, cut, cleaned, and shaped by hand to create this lovely heart to store with your woolens. Long used as a natural moth repellent, these hearts have a delicate woodsy scent that will help keep your garments safe from damage.
