I’m so excited about this week’s featured tool. We just got these back in space, and I have been eager to pick up a set for myself after playing with the set we have in the shop. Susan Bates’ finishing needles are a fabulous variation on the darning needles we all know and love. The unique design of these finishing needles runs the eye of the needle all along the interior of the needle, and this lets you easily weave in short ends.
As you can see, this shawl I’m working on has some unfortunately short ends. With a standard darning needle I’d be enjoying some awkward angles and struggling to get those ends secured in the piece. But with these finishing needles I can hold my threads almost at the tip of the needle, or anywhere else that comfortably fits. Threading the needle is a joy, and the thin sides are super flexible to squish together. The set comes with five needles that can easily handle all weights of yarn from lace up to super bulky.
