In May of 2012, Arthella joined us here at fibre space as our new manager. I knew right away that she had the calmness and patience to balance my whirlwind of crazy around the shop. And I knew that in order for me to step back for a bit to have a baby, I needed someone here that I could trust and hand things off to. Arthella was a perfect fit.
She wasn’t really entirely new to us. She was the first person in line for our Black Friday sale our first year open. I had seen her face around the shop many times, as she was a loyal customer. And I believe we had met at A Tangled Skein, where she worked before coming to us.
She quickly became my biggest cheerleader and the best person to talk me off the ledge! Arthella’s calm demeanor and ability to handle just about any pressure will be hugely missed. She’s also become a favorite for many of our vendors, who I know will miss her pleasantries on the phone. She carried us through the madness of moving the store and held down the fort when I was home having Maddie. She helped make amazing color and yarn selections and kept me on top of trends and exciting new things in our industry.
And she helped raise my daughter. Arthella is part of the “framily” here that held Maddie while checking out customers, helped her to crawl and walk, taught her words and how to sing and play. Maddie will certainly miss seeing “Thella” at the store. (And I know Nemo will most certainly miss her and her rewards for him doing his “chores.”) But most of all, I will miss Arthella. She has been an amazing sidekick to my madness.
Now over 4 years later, Arthella is off to do exciting things! In 2017, she will have something new and amazing to announce to you all. But until then, stop by now through Friday to wish her farewell!
