We are so pleased to introduce our newest brand to space: mYak. This company isn’t just about bringing you beautiful and unique yarns, which is awesome in and of itself, but about truly making a difference.
Founded by Andrea and Paola, mYak works directly with the herders across the Tibetan Plateau of Asia, leading to its mission of sustainability. And not just sustainability for the animal or the environment, but also for the people. Without the middleman, mYak directly contributes to the well-being of the local communities by caring for the people and respecting the diverse cultures and ways of life found across this region. They go a step further by ensuring that animals, who roam free across the plains, are not harmed when the fiber is combed off each spring, and that the final products are of the highest quality, ensuring they will last a lifetime rather than a season.
Once the incredibly soft yak fibers are gathered, they are sent to the most capable mills in Italy to be spun. The skill of Tibetan herdsman combines with the skill of Italian craftsmen to produce only the finest quality yarns destined to be treasured heirlooms.
Sustainability, ethical practices and eco-conscious ideals are all spun into mYak’s finest yak yarns. We all can now have a little piece of the long-standing yak traditional that Tibet has developed over the ages.
