While it may only be August and about a million degrees outside, it’s time to start planning holiday projects. Our stitchy talents make for great gifting to family and friends, but most of us wait until the last minute and panic right up until the end. Check in with us weekly for great project ideas that are perfect for getting an early start on that gift list.
The arrival of Knit Fast, Die Young from Spincycle Yarns is a perfect kickoff to our holiday gift guide. This super bulky yarn is dyed before being spun, lending that marled appearance that will sort of stripe. IT’s also entirely American made from sheep to skein, helping keep your gifting money right here at home. While there are some great projects for adults and kids available on Ravelry, one of my favorites is Waldeinsamkeit by Caitlin ffrench. Each hat is a great one skein project that will whip up in no time at all!

Caitlin uses a great reverse stockinette panel that really helps to highlight the colors of the yarn. This panel is also acts as a gallery-of-sorts to highlight a fantastic button or lighter weight vintage brooch. With a recent delivery of Favour Valley Woodworks buttons, there are sure to be some awesome antler toggles or one-of-a-kind wood slice buttons that will make the hat truly unique. And if statement buttons aren’t up the recipient’s alley just let the reverse stockinette panel speak for itself.
