A brand new addition The Fiberists yarns, Newton Worsted is a beautiful yarn that is sure to become a favorite. Locally hand-dyed here in Northern Virginia, this merino/silk worsted weight yarn comes in huge skeins that give you a lot of pattern options and bang for your buck. Project Inspiration:
Churchmouse’s patterns are great for beginners and experts alike, and their new Crocheted Beanie and Cowl is perfect for a skein of Newton Worsted. For an extra-large cowl, crochet it using the entire skein (the pattern is designed to use every bit of yarn). Or stitch the hat first and use the remaining yarn for the cowl for a matching set. The basic crochet stitches used are easily to master yet look wonderfully complicated.

We all love Purl Soho’s Stitch Block Cowl, and our new version featuring Newton Worsted is no exception. Used as the main color, add one coordinating skein of Freia Ombré M/S Worsted and another 200 yards of worsted weight (Sweet Georgia Superwash Worsted is a perfect addition) for a gorgeous cowl. The color possibilities are endless and mesh beautifully with the three stitch patterns used throughout.

Especially perfect for some of the brighter colorways, Stephen West’s Safety Scarf is a fun two color cowl that features a variety of reversible textured stitches. If you flip the colors, you should have enough yarn to make a second cowl as a gift as well.

Flax by tincanknits is a shop favorite! This free pullover pattern is written from newborn to 4XL, so it’s great for the entire family. All sizes through 4-6 years required just one skein, while sizes 6-8 years through M/L require just two skeins! The simple stockinette and garter would highlight the subtle variations that come along with a hand-dyed yarn well.

What’s more perfect to pair along with a brand new yarn? A brand new book, of course! The Shore Cardigan by shop favorite Carrie Bostick Hoge is in the Just Landed Swoon Maine book. The gorgeous cardigan is slightly angled along the front hem, adding just enough visual interest.
