In the immortal words of Buddy the Elf, “SANTA’S COMING!”
No, but really, he is. And so is Mrs. Claus! They’ll be at Union Street Public House on Dec. 22, 23 and 24 — before they take off for their big night — and you can get a ticket for pictures with (FINE, arguably) the most famous couple in the history of everything. There’s a $20 sitting fee and photos are available for purchase. Get your tickets now!
TREE LIGHTING

Now that you have your Santa tickets, kick off the holiday season right by attending the free Alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony. It’s Friday, Nov. 27 (ahem, Black Friday), from 6 to 8 p.m. at Market Square (301 King Street). Get a Santa preview, see live performances, and participate in a community sing-along.
SCOTTISH CHRISTMAS WALK PARADE
Also known just as the Scottish Walk, the 45th annual Christmas parade takes place Saturday, Dec. 5. The Campagna Center writes on their site, “Enjoy marching units filled with the magnificent tartans of Scottish Clans, the stirring sound of Scottish bagpipes and drums, Scottish dancers, reenactment groups, Scottie dogs, dignitaries, classic cars, Santa Claus, and much more.” The event, which starts at 11 a.m., is rain or shine. The parade begins at St. Asaph and Wilkes streets and ends at Market Square (where you can check out the decked-out tree, in case you missed it!). Bring the whole family!
