Greetings! Here’s what’s been happening around the shop this week.
New Arrivals
We’ve been counting the days until the arrival of this very special hand dye. Now it’s official: Crave Yarn has landed at fibre space!
Crave is the absolutely gorgeous work of hand dyer and owner Amor, who dyes out of her private studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The first base she sent us is Filigree fingering — 435 yards of 75% superwash fine merino and 25% mulberry silk — which Amor calls “enchantingly soft” and says this yarn’s most unique characteristic is the glimmer that catches light as you turn it over in your hands. We also found there’s great depth to the colors Amor has created in her small-batch dyeing process. Each skein is $40.
Yipes Stripes kits are back! Designed for Ann Weaver’s Yipes Stripes Cowl, we have a multiple stunning color options to pick from. Five 100 yard mini skeins of Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Worsted for $55. The next session of the excellent Yipes Stripes workshop is coming up on November 22. Click here to learn more and register.
Events
Yoga and Yarn – a fundraiser for Project Knitwell is this Saturday! Join us for an open and all-level accessible 60-minute yoga practice specifically designed for knitters’ posture, joint health and harmony at Pure Prana. Following the class, we join together here at our shop for refreshments from La Fromagerie, accessing skillful knit instruction or to knit bracelets for the local children’s hospital while socializing with the community. Knitting materials and project kits are available for purchase at the store.
Learn to brioche this Columbus Day! The popular Brioche and Beyond with Olga Buraya-Kefelian returns on Monday, October 12 at 6 pm. Grab your spot before the workshop fills up! Click here to learn more and register.
fibre space™ is proud to participate in the fall Boutiques Give Back event this Wednesday, October 14! You can make a difference by giving to your favorite charity by shopping and dining with local businesses like ours. Simply mention Boutiques Give Back, and we’ll give 20% of your purchase to ANY Alexandria charity you choose! Not sure who to support? No worries! We will contribute 20% of our sales to Project Knitwell – an organization that brings the joy of knitting to those facing stressful situations.
