Every year, on the Saturday after the Fourth of July, Alexandria celebrates its birthday. This year it’s the big 266! (No gifts please. Your presence is present enough.) Of course, as usual, the old gal is marking another year in grand style — everything from a performance by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra to birthday cake to, naturally, fireworks.
The bash will go down at Oronoco Bay Park, with festivities beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks are expected at 9:30 p.m. (rain date for the fireworks only will be Sunday night at 9:30).
The birthday celebration is part of the first-ever Alexandria Live Music Week, with 10 days of live music at more than 30 restaurants and venues featuring acts of all types. Check out the schedule at the link above.
