Old Town Happenings: Arlington County Fair seeks entries!

Old Town Happenings: Arlington County Fair seeks entries!

Hey knitters and crocheters, ever dream of winning a blue ribbon at the county fair? Wait no longer! This year, for the first time, Alexandria City residents can center items for judging in the Arlington County Fair.

The fair, to be held Aug. 5-9 at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center (3501 2nd Street South, Arlington), will accept entries starting Aug. 5 from residents of Arlington County, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, the City of Alexandria and the City of Falls Church, as well as students who attend schools in Arlington County. All work should have been completed no earlier than calendar year ***2014*** (correction! Thank you, Mary!).

In the Art Needlework and Wearing Apparel Department, rules include designating whether your work was made from a kit, was an adapted design or was an original design. Note: No “‘professional’ (one who accepts remuneration for the design of, or finished work, or who teaches that subject)” entries will be accepted (that means if you sold it on Ravelry as a pattern, it’s a no-go). Judging is based on design and pattern, workmanship, use of colors, use of materials, and overall appearance.

Entries will receive feedback from a judge and you could even win that coveted ribbon!

To enter, read the entry guide (PDF) and fill out or download the entry form on the Arlington County Fair’s Competitive Exhibits page.

Good luck!
