Greetings from space! Here’s what’s been happening around the shop.
New Arrivals
We’re thrilled to welcome a new base from Fiberstory! Glow is a blend of 55% BFL/45% Silk, available in 14 colorways, with 438 yards to the skein ($36). Check out our project inspiration here!
We’ve also received a huge box from Miss Babs. This time out, we’ve received a major refresh of K2, perfect for making Olga’s brand new Boshoku cowl or pick up two skeins for her very popular Reimei cowl.
Miss Babs Tarte is also back in the shop. This excellent sock yarn is available in a variety of semisolids and variegated colorways. This machine washable base is a mix of 75% merino/15% nylon/10% tencel and packs a wollop with 500 yards per skein.
After a season’s worth of growth, the sheep behind Woolfolk have put out a new batch of yarn. We are fully restocked on the original colorways (hello blues, greys, beiges, and that amazing maroon) in both fingering and worsted bases. Stop by and indulge in a little luxury.
Did you miss the Hazel Knits Trunk Show? Have no fear. We’ve held on to the cakes (instead of sending them back home to Seattle), and now they are ready for you. We still have great colors available in Entice MCN, Artisan Sock, Lively DK, and Cadence.
After searching far and wide, Danielle found bento bags for the shop! The bags come in three sizes (small, $18; medium, $20; and large, $24) and each size comes in a variety of classic textiles.
Events
We’re thrilled to be hosting excellent workshops over the next month!
Carson Demers will be joining us in mid-May for a series of workshops on the ergonomics of knitting. Carson is a physical therapist, fiber enthusiast, designer and teacher. His passion and experience in fiber arts combine with his expertise in physical therapy and ergonomics to create a unique skill set that he eagerly shares with the fiber community at local yarn shops, guilds, and major knitting events across the country.
Come and learn how to knit without getting that pain in your shoulder or twinge in your neck. Carson will be here in mid-May teaching a series of workshops including KnitRX (Friday, May 15, 6-9pm, $75) and Ergonomics on the Go (Saturday, May 16, 10am-1pm). Seats are filling up, grab yours now!
Master designer Kirsten Kapur is joining us in early June for two shawl workshops and a book signing! Kirsten’s first book, Kirsten Kapur Designs Shawl Book One, a collection of her best loved shawls, has recently been released and is available at the shop. She will be signing books and sharing the trunk show with us on Saturday, June 6 from 10 am-7 pm. Additionally, Kirsten will be teaching two workshops over the weekend: Top Down Lace Shawl on Friday, May 15 from 3-7 pm ($85) and Duane Park Shawl on Saturday, June 6 from 2-6 pm ($85). Danielle and the yarnistas are contemplating a June knitalong from Kirsten’s designs. Sign up for a workshop to get the inside scoop from the designer herself and then join us in June when we get down to shawl making.
