Greetings from space! Here’s what’s been going on the shop.
New Arrivals
Did you get in on the four boxes that came in from Miss Babs? We got some old favorites (Yowza, Yummy 2-ply toes) and welcomed the fresh arrival of a great lace weight yarn: Yasmin.
Maybe you’re looking to bring a little more portable organization to your knitting? Binkwaffle project bags are back in stock! These very popular reversible dumpling bags are $35 for the small and $55 for the large. The small tote is approximately 6″x6″x14″ and the large is approximately 9″x9″x21″.
Events
Our spring calendar/dance card is filling up. Come share some of the excitement with us!
fibre space is hosting its first trunk show from Hazel Knits at the end of April! The Hazel Knits mega trunk show will feature a host of exclusive items including amazing color pairings in one of a kind project kits, giant yardage “big wheels” of several yarn bases and “babycakes” (mini skeins) perfect for color work and color block projects. Think of it like the Miss Babs trunk show, but with less variegation. The trunk show will be at the shop April 29 – May 3.
We’re also thrilled to be hosting workshops from Olga Buraya-Kefelian, Carson Demers,Kirsten Kapur, and Ann Weaver! Don’t miss grabbing a seat in the new session of Olga’s Brioche and Beyond! The first date sold out quickly, and seats for Saturday, May 9 are going fast. Get while the getting is good – here!
We will be hosting a series of workshops from Carson Demers in mid-May. Carson is a physical therapist, fiber enthusiast, designer and teacher. His passion and experience in fiber arts combine with his expertise in physical therapy and ergonomics to create a unique skill set that he eagerly shares with the fiber community at local yarn shops, guilds, and major knitting events across the country.
Come and learn how to knit without getting that crick in your neck. Carson will be here in mid-May teaching KnitRX (Friday, May 15, 6-9pm, $75), Ergonomics on the Go (Saturday, May 16, 10am-1pm), and Swatchbuckling (Saturday, May 16, 2-5pm). Seats are filling up, grab yours now!
Master designer Kirsten Kapur is joining us in early June for two shawl workshops and a book signing! Kirsten’s first book, Kirsten Kapur Designs Shawl Book One, a collection of her best loved shawls, is scheduled to be released in mid-April. She will be signing books and sharing the trunk show with us on Saturday, June 6 from 10 am-7 pm. Additionally, Kirsten will be teaching two workshops over the weekend: Top Down Lace Shawl on Friday, May 15 from 3-7 pm ($85) and Duane Park Shawl on Saturday, June 6 from 2-6 pm ($85). Kirsten uses her experience in the garment industry to deliver gorgeous patterns with interesting construction and design elements. Need a shawl to put on your needles? Please, allow me to suggest the Andrea Shawl, which is worked from the outer edge in. Just when you’re losing steam and ready to move on to something else, the rows get shorter and faster.
