Wesley Bob: A Titus Christmas Tradition

Wesley Bob: A Titus Christmas Tradition

Since its arrival, Titus by baa ram ewe has been a great addition to the shop!  With it’s dreamy blend of  Wensleydale, Blue Faced Leicester, and Alpaca, Titus was designed to reflect a British tradition of fine wools, which you can read about here.  A fingering weight with 350 yards in each $26 skein, Titus comes in a palette of eleven beautiful colors that perfectly compliment each other.  While each color has been a wonderful addition to our fingering wall, I am super excited about a twelfth color arriving on our shelves for only a limited time!  Introducing Wesley Bob, a beautiful, cranberry red dyed only once a year in celebration of the Christmas season.  Also arriving are three gorgeous patterns designed especially for the Wesley Bob colorway.

Wesley Bob is a Yorkshire word for Christmas ornaments, stemming from the practice of wassailing during the Christmas season.  Every December, two girls, called the Vessel Maids, would carry a box filled with ornaments from house to house, singing Christmas carols and asking for a penny to see inside the box.  It was considered very unlucky if the Vessel Maids did not visit your house with their box of Wesley Bob. Today, Titus continues to celebrate the idea of Wesley Bob with its very limited color way which we were lucky enough to get a bag of!  Come pick up a skein while it lasts!

Pattern Inspiration

Such a special color way comes complete with pattern designed just for it which are perfect for Christmas!  Titus’ unique composition works wonderfully for fair isle colorwork.  Many of us have fond memories of Christmas stockings so why not work up a set of Osen Christmas Stockings for your mantle?  One stocking uses only a skein in each color but will have plenty of left overs!

Homemade Christmas ornaments are a tradition in my family.  While we have a pretty big collection of store-bought ornaments, the favorites are always the homemade ones my Grandma sent us when I was a toddler.  I can’t wait to add to Grandma’s pile with a few of my own!  Dingle Baubles comes with three different ornament patterns and only use 35 yards in each!
