Greetings from space! Here’s what happened around the shop this week.
New Arrivals
We’ve welcomed some great new yarns into the shop this week. First up, our friends at Stonehedge Fiber Mill have launched a superwash! Each worsted weight skein has 250 yards of 100% superwash merino and costs $13.50. The new line comes in many of the same great colors as the original Shepherd’s Wool, including Christmas red, green, and white.
We have also received new colors of Tundra. The new colorways (l-r) Silver Wolf, Pinkberry, Diablo Beach, Bearberry, and Northern Lights all have the same great blend of baby alpaca, merino, and silk that you’ve come to love with the original colors. Each skein has 120 yards and costs $23, perfect for quick knits as we head into the home stretch of holiday knitting.
Three big shipments of great yarns just landed in the shop yesterday: Hazel Knits Lively DK (90% superwash Merino/10% nylon, 275 yards, $25 per skein), fiberstory ONE Bulky (80% superwash Merino/20% nylon, 82 yards, $26), and Neighborhood Fiber Co. Capital Luxury Worsted (80% superwash Merino/10% Cashmere/10% nylon, 200 yards, $30). Come in and get your skeins before they fly back out of the shop!
Classes
We’ve been rolling out our winter semester. Have you been checking our calendar? If you don’t want to wait until the new year to learn some new skills, we’ve got a few spots left in classes starting this week.
Want to learn a special effect? Our Entrelac Scarf or Wrap will teach you the classic interlocking pattern. This two week class begins on Saturday, December 13 at 1 pm ($65).
Got a little one who wants to learn how to knit? We offer a monthly class for children ages 7 and up. On Friday, December 12 at 4 pm, your child could learn the basics to make a scarf. ($40)
Events
Our winter schedule is filling up with workshops from Molly Miller, Olga Buraya-Kefelian, Stephen West & StevenBe, Anne Weaver, and more. Just announced this week: a new time for Fall in Love with Fibre with Molly Miller, Yipes Strips Cowl with Anne Weaver, and Colorwork Shawl and Colorwork Steeked Cowl with Olga Buraya-Kefelian. Check out the full schedule on our calendar.
What’s Hot
We’re looking forward to the new year, and some of us around the shop are putting together an unofficial knitalong for Stephen West’s visit. Starting in the last week of December, we’re casting on our project of choice in order to have something wear by the designer when he lands in late January. Join us on the Ravelry board for this knitalong!
