Knitting and yoga. They’ve both been said to do the same thing – help relax you and calm nerves. And that’s just one reason why the upcoming Yarn Over Yoga event to benefit Project Knitwell is such a cool idea.
The other reason you should consider attending is, of course, Project Knitwell. The organization, which is fibre space’s official charity partner, is a non-profit organization that brings the joy of knitting to people facing difficult situations. Most Project Knitwell participants are patients and/or family members who have spent a considerable amount of time in a local hospital.
The event, to be held at Pengu Studio, a yoga and Pilates studio in McLean, Va., will feature an hourlong yoga class, followed by knitting lessons, refreshments and a raffle. You can make a knitted bracelet that will be donated to patients at Children’s National Medical Center.
All levels of yoga practitioners and knitters are welcomed at the event, which will be 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25 at Pengu (6809 Old Dominion Drive, McLean, Va.). It’s $40 to attend and is 50% tax-deductible.
