Silky Blends from French Market and Sweet Georgia

Silky Blends from French Market and Sweet Georgia

I don’t know about you guys but I have a problem: a silk blend problem.  There are so many beautiful blends in the yarn world but those silk blends still draw me back every time!  They take dye so deliciously well, block so nicely, and have that little bit of shine mixed with wooliness that is just so unbelievably dreamy.  I can’t stay away!  Well, if you’re like me, you are in luck because we have some lovely, newly arrived silk blends that are just itching to make it onto your needles!

French Market Fibers Silky DK

French Market Fibers Silky DK comes in at $30 per 231 yard skein and is perfect for all your accessory needs!  We are so excited to have some of this amazing yarn back in the shop. This 50/50 Silk and Merino blend has amazing colors with great depth and variegation, making each colorway unique and interesting.  Dyed locally, French Market Fibers was created as a creative outlet for owner Margaret.  After moving to the D.C. area, Margaret needed a little something to keep her distracted, settling on knitting and, eventually, on dyeing her own yarns in colorways inspired by New Orleans.  With rich colors and a beautiful silky feel, French Market Fibers is sure to spice up your knitwear collection.

The Colors (from right to left):  Audubon (SOLD OUT), Brandy Milk Punch (SOLD OUT), Bourbon St. Blues (SOLD OUT), Wrought Iron (SOLD OUT), Crawfish Boil, Creole Mustard, and Plantation.

With so many beautiful colors, what patterns to choose to show it off?  I’m thinking two skeins would make a perfect French Cancan! This lovely shawl has a garter stitch body and a yummy cabled edge that will really make this yarn shine!

One skein would be perfect for a Pasha!  This lacy, slouched hat would be so cute for fall with that little bit of sheen and drape to really show off that lace.

A lacy cowl would be just the thing for fall layering.  I’m seriously considering grabbing two skeins for Joji Locatelli’s Something in the Air.

It’s hard to believe it now, but soon we are going to be breaking out all of our warm accessories in the face of some serious cold.  Fingerless gloves are an essential part of my winter wardrobe and I think a pair of Peacock Blues Lace Fingerless Mittens might be perfect!

For my crocheters, nothing makes me happier than a crocheted hat!  I don’t why but I love the way they feel, plus they are super quick to whip up.  Why not try a Camus Hat?  This free pattern is a simple stitch that will really help show off this yarn’s beautiful variegation.

With a graphic print and long length, Siblyback Infinity Scarf will be great in just two skeins.  This cowl will be your fall stable in any of French Market Fiber’s beautiful colors.
