We are super excited to announce yet another fantastic new yarn to the shop: Titus by baa ram ewe.
This is a FANTASTIC import from England that we just fell in love with at the trade show this year. Titus is a yummy fingering weight blend of 50% Wensleydale, 20% Bluefaced Leicester, and 30% alpaca. Named for Sir Titus Slat, Titus was created to showcase his contribution to the British wool industry in the 19th century. Responsible for introducing alpaca cloth to Britain, Titus similarly uses alpaca to spice up a very traditional British wool blend with a hint of alpaca softness and drape. It is $26 per 350 yard skein. **The first 30 customers to purchase 3 or more skeins will receive a free canvas tote!
If you are out of town and want to order Titus by phone, check out these colors:
What makes Titus so exciting for us at the shop is how well it lends itself to colorwork. The sheen of the BFL and alpaca give character and stitch definition while the two wools help maintain the yarn’s “stickiness,” making it ideal for fair isle knitting. If fair isle isn’t your thing, though, the great texture in Titus makes it perfect for single color projects as well.
Need ideas? Along with the yarn comes a range of amazing patterns featured in Rachel Coopey’s Coop Knits Toasty Volume 1. We also have individual patterns of all of the items found in this book collection. This accessories collection offers several adorable one-skein-wonder projects designed specifically for Titus. Additionally, there are several gorgeous colorwork patterns that really show off what makes this yarn so special and unique. Here’s a couple of our favorites:
I cannot wait to make a Northallerton hat! Gorgeous fair isle, the perfect amount of slouch, AND a pompom?!? Sign me up! This is even a class this fall!
Every hat in this collection is amazing and it’s impossible to decide which ones to make first! With these gorgeous cables, Ripon is a strong contender!
I love it when my fall accessories go together. Pick out two colors and make a matching Aiskew Hat and Mitten set to keep you cozy.
Fair Isle and cables are always a good thing but everyone knows I’m a lace girl. While this collection may not have any lacey shawls, it does have Melmerby. This scarf’s simple diamond lace pattern would be a perfect staple for your fall wardrobe.
