Made in the USA

Made in the USA

Since we are celebrating Independence Day this week, we thought it would be a great time to highlight the US brands that we carry in the shop. I grew up on a farm in central PA and know the struggle of US farmers to make a living on their crops and their animals. So when I developed the inventory plan for our shop, I wanted to focus on US sourced yarns, as much as possible. To make it easier for you to learn all about our US grown, spun or dyed yarns, we are offering 10% off of these yarns and fibres on July 4th and 5th!

Here are just SOME the brands that you will find on sale:

US Grown & Milled

American B.R.A.N.D. – jump over here to read about this very cool yarn that is grown, spun and dyed all right here in the US.

Brooklyn Tweed – We are proud to be one of the flagship stores for this gorgeous woolen spun yarn from designer Jared Flood. This yarn is entirely American – made with wool grown on farms in Wyoming and spun in the historic Harrisville New Hampshire mill.

Imperial Stock Ranch – This Oregon ranch produces amazing Columbia wool that is processed right here in the US as well. Look for a couple of new arrivals from this company for the fall! Currently we have their spinning fibre.

Jill Draper Makes Stuff – Jump over here to read about this US sourced and dyed yarn! We have a newer shipment of Windham, which is a 4 ply Merino sourced from US farms.

Locally Dyed

These locals are the heart of our business.  They are all dyed right here in the DMV!

Cephalopod Yarns – Sarah and Sam are dyeing all of their yarns in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dragonfly Fibers – Kate and her team are working in Kensington, Maryland.

The Fibersists – Reggie and Spencer are members of the men’s knitting group that meets here at the shop, and they dye in VA.

Neighborhood Fiber Co – Karida is a DC native who is now dyeing from her studio in Baltimore, MD.

Yarn Rescue (fibre) – this gorgeous fibre is dyed in Bethesda, MD!

US Dyed

Miss Babs – Babs herself lives and works in Mountain City, Tennessee. An amazing number of her yarns are also milled here in the US!

Freia Yarns – Many of Tina Whitmore’s bases are US grown and spun. Right now you can check out her lace weight yarn, which is a blend of Colorado spun wool and nylon.

Lorna’s Laces

US Milled

Stonehedge Fiber Mill – Their Shepherd’s Wool is spun in their Michigan mill. This mill also produces much of the spinning equipment used by others in our industry. Deb and her team are truly amazing American entrepreneurs.
