I have this idea that I will knit a matching hat and mitts to match the coat. Every. Single. Time. This usually results in a new hat or a new set of mitts but never both. And so it is happening again. I bought this new wool coat because the one that I have had for several years now has really seen better days. My pregnant belly last winter caused some serious wear and tear on it. The old coat was a deep purple / grape color. The new coat is light grey. So my hat / mitts needs to coordinate well. I am thinking something light teal or turquoise.
The yarns are (top to bottom) Neighborhood Fiber Co Studio Worsted, the Fiberists Audubon Worsted, Stonehedge Shepherd’s Wool, Spud and Chloe Sweater and the Fibre Co Organik. After much Ravelry research, here are the patterns that I am thinking:
Hats
You can see the style / vibe that I am going for. Now that my hair is longer, I think I can pull off a slouchier hat. I am leaning towards that last one because it is so simple and unique.
Mitts
Ok, first, I have to say that Jane Richmond has now become my all time favorite designer for accessories. I found three or four of her hats that I loved during my hat search and realized that I had already knit all of them. Then my mitts search turned up these gorgeous things (part of a new book! Yes, working on finding out if we can get it in print at the shop):
I sorta stopped looking after seeing these. Now to make a final yarn decision. Will I actually knit both?
