If you are like me, you probably noticed the blanket that the new royal was wrapped in before you ever took note of Kate’s dress. I was so excited to see the soft knitted lace wrap around that baby! I have been scouring the internet for news on what the blanket was. Here is what I found (a press release from the company that makes the shawl / blanket). The blanket is one from G.H. Hurt & Son – a lace merino blanket that Victoria Beckham also chose for her baby. Unfortunately this means that there isn’t a pattern for the blanket, but their website has some great photography that means it might show up on Ravelry sometime soon… This is the blanket.
There is also a cryptic message on their site that explains that the blanket has limited availability right now: “Due to a well publicized event demand for this item has increased. Lead times may be slightly longer with this beautiful shawl, but we are doing our very best to deliver to time.” It looks like it would also make a stunning shawl, so I am excited to see what pops up on Ravelry in a few weeks, as lace designers get busy making patterns similar to this one.
The blanket seen in the photo below has also been identified and is likely available locally. It is from Eden + Anais, a brand that is heavily stocked across the street from us at Pink and Brown! I have at least 6 of these swaddle blankets in various prints. (If I weren’t so darn tired, I would walk upstairs and see if I have this exact print…bc I am pretty sure that I do). They are a wonderful soft cotton and come in a variety of prints. Of course this one is probably already sold out everywhere!
