We are delighted to welcome a new hand dyer/luxurious hand dyed treat onto our shelves…
Sweet Fiber Yarns by Melisa Thomson (sweetfiber on Ravelry). Melissa formed Sweet Fiber Yarns in 2011, while earning her BFA at the Emily Carr University of Art & Design in British Columbia. She began knitting in 2007 when her mom opened a local yarn shop in Langley, BC, where she worked part-time and developed her love and knowledge of yarn and knitwear design.
Her yarns are sourced mainly in Canada and dyed to order in small batches. Color inspiration is drawn from daily life in a beautiful place, with particular attention paid to how the colors interact with each other and differing environments.
We received 12 colorways in the Merino Twist DK base:
-Winter, Denim, Envy, Charcoal, Spirit, Ever Grey, Bruin, Sequoia, Alizarin, Fossil, Early Spring, Luna; (see some below)
and 16 colorways in Super Sweet Sock:
-Seastorm, Something Blue, Teal, Fountain, Smoke, Vintage Lace, Snow Drift, Temperate, Spanish Coin, Spiced Pumpkin, Amber Briolette, Bloom, Ina’s Red, Black Currant, Purple Night, Tea Leaves. (see some below)
Yarn details:
Merino Twist DK
-hand washable and spun especially for loft and spring! 100% superwash Merino; 260 yards (238 m); 115 grams (4.06 oz); $23. Personally, I will be surprised at my own restraint if I don’t run out and buy enough of that Sequoia to knit myself a Lush cardigan (great pattern!). The tight twist in this yarn would really compliment cables, too… one skein for a lovely Iced Hat, perhaps?
Super Sweet Sock
80% merino, 20% nylon and made to last. 415 yards (379 meters); 115 grams (4.06 oz); $23. Beautiful and sturdy enough for any number of socks or lightweight sweaters. With 16 colors to choose from, Happy Street would be fun, too.
