Celebrate Alexandria and America on July 13!

You may think this coming Thursday is the most appropriate day to celebrate our nation’s independence.

If you’re looking for the best party, however, Alexandria is the place to be on July 13 from 7-10PM.

Every year, our town celebrates its own birthday as well as Our Great Nation’s on the Saturday following the 4th. And this year, Alexandria turns 264! That’s certainly worthy of a party! The party includes distractions for the kids, live music, birthday cake for everyone (seriously!) and a really impressive fireworks display. Another highlight is Alexandria Symphony Orchestra’s performance.

Held at Oronoco Bay Park, you might want to bring your own lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. In case your decision to attend is a spur-of-the-moment decision, typical backyard party food such as ice cream, hot dogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase.

Transportation options include Capital BikeShare, the Metro (Braddock St or King St) and the free King Street trolley. The trolley will run between the King Street Metro and the base of King Street by the waterfront until midnight.
