A monster nursery

I have talked about the Knit a Monster Nursery book before. It is perhaps one of the most adorable baby pattern books EVER! (Two left at the shop!!) So when my friend Sarah got pregnant, I knew that I had to knit her something from this book. Since my nearest and dearest friends get baby blankets, I selected this one from the book:

She originally picked out some wonderful colors from Spud and Chloe that worked well with her nursery color theme but then a Sweet Georgia Worsted delivery arrived and I couldn’t resist using the SG yarn…I have a weakness. Here is my finished version:

I even had enough yarn leftover to make the matching monster hat:

I may have also strongly hinted to my close friend Jane that I wanted the monster mobile from the book for my own nursery. I have strong feelings (imagine that) about knitting tiny toy-like objects so there was no way I was going to make it. But I wanted it…I wanted it badly.

So Jane spent several agonizing months knitting the mobile with various colors of Miss Babs Toes (which are the perfect smaller yardage for a project like this). Jane’s version even has each monster holding an adorable little letter that spells “Baby.” Isn’t it amazing?!

Give Jane some time before you ask her about this project. I think she is still recovering from the tiny little balls that she had to kit and sew onto the mobile. She needs some time to “heal.”

But seriously..most amazing thing ever, right?!
