Erika Knight has just released a brand new yarn – targeted for baby projects! (Spring is the perfect time for this). The yarn is called British Blue. In a moment of weakness, I grabbed a few balls and took home the adorable pattern collection to start on a baby project. I am not even sure that this is for my baby. It might go into the growing collection of baby items for friend’s children not yet born. (Doesn’t everyone have this?) The sweater is a simple stockinette stitch with a rolled edge. I decided to use a contrast color for the edge details. Erika’s pattern includes the directions for adding elbow patches to the sweater, and I am super excited to go find a coordinating fabric for it!
About this yarn…
This 100% British Blue Faced Leicester wool is supremely soft AND machine washable, although I would use the gentle cycle and definitely cold water. It is a DK weight and comes in little 55 yard balls, making it idea for little baby projects ( pair of booties or fair isle with less waste or leftover!) The stitch definition is just lovely. The BFL gives the finished garment a subtle bit of sheen. Really a lovely fabric after it is blocked. It is $7.25 per ball.
