Someone broke Sam

Someone broke Sam

I wanted to make our fibre space™ community aware of something that happened last week to one of our own. Yarnista and instructor Sam was riding her bicycle near her home and was hit by a car. She suffered some pretty severe breaks and damage. She has had several surgeries and was in the hospital for over a week. She is now in a rehabilitation center, as she can not maneuver in and out of her apartment and still needs quite a bit of care. I am headed to see her again this evening and to watch the political debates / provide some manni pedi love to her digits 😉 So send Sam some happy healing thoughts!

Some of you who heard about the accident have asked what you can do. Since Sam just started her position for the government a few months ago, she has already blown through all of her leave. She has registered for a program that allows those who work in the government to donate leave to her.

In order to donate, fill out this form and take it to your own HR person.  Your HR person needs to send it to Kelly Collins.  Her office phone is 304-480-8778; fax is 304-480-8272; email: kelly.collins@bpd.treas.gov.

Here is the form, if you work outside of the Food and Nutrition Service:

Under number 10 on the form, the leave recipient’s name and information will be:

Samantha Wetzel, FNS, SNAP, Program Development Division, Certification Policy Branch, 3101 Park Center Drive, Alexandria, Virginia 22302.
