The fall fashion season is upon us, and if you haven’t already hit your favorite stores for essential pieces, you will be excited to know that this year’s color palette includes some amazing neutrals and gorgeous “pops” of rich color. “By playing to consumers’ practical side with versatile neutrals, and boosting their confidence with bold, spirited hues, this skillfully balanced palette has something for everyone,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.
I can’t wait to pair rich neutrals like Titanium Trey and French Roast with brights like orange and chartreuse! As the fall yarns are arriving, you will start to see these color trends in this year’s yarn lines:
The colors of the season have me really excited (we know that I love a good brown sweater), but I am also looking forward to the other trends this fall. This week I got an email from one of my favorite brands declaring that tweed is back! (Did it go away?)
For yarn lovers, tweed is timeless! In my recent shopping excursion, I noticed preppy tweed jackets and elbow patches, tall riding boots and bold patterned tops and pants. It appears to be hip to have raided our grandmother’s closet! (The term “Granny Chic” is being thrown around). It is also cardigan season. Perhaps time to finish up those plaid cardigans we started? (I should say “that I started” but I feel better with company).
Rest assured that we will be “stylin” with our hand-craft, as there is knitting all over the runways this season. Bulky knits are still in fashion, which you will notice with our recently expanded bulky weight yarn section. Lucky for us, bulky knits work up quickly!
If you want to see more of this season’s trends, be sure to come to Old Town for Fashion’s Night Out on September 6th. We will be hosting two trunk shows at our shop – Brooklyn Tweed (amazing tweed inspirations!) and Spud and Chloe (COLOR galore). We will also have a few knitted items in the Fashion Show at the Torpedo Factory. (It is being emceed by Monty Durham from TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress – Atlanta.” Click below for more details on this city-side event.
