I do knit a lot of items for babies. My “go to” project has been the Pixie Hat by Debbie Bliss (available in the Simply Baby book). There are a pair of matching socks in the book as well. Since the project is worked with two colors of Baby Cashmerino, I often go to my stash to see what bits I have as the stripe and then pair a second full ball as the main color. When Phil’s work buddy announced that they were expecting twins, Phil asked if I would knit them something. This hat project seemed like a great way to pair two fun colors of Baby Cashmerino together. I chose to use a pale yellow as the accent stripe for both and then picked up a bright teal and red as the other two colors. I love putting brighter colors on babies! When the little hats finally left the house to go live with their new infant twin owners, I didn’t really expect much back. I knit a lot of baby stuff. New moms are crazy busy and overwhelmed. Sometimes I get no response. Sometimes I get a thank you note or call. I almost never get photos. (As you know) the most amazing way to thank a knitter is to send photos of the knitted item ON the child. This makes us happy because ONE: we have good FO photos for Ravelry and TWO: we know it fits and is being put to good use! I was really so friggin excited when these photos arrived in my inbox:
Not only are they photos of adorable hats on babies, but they were taken professionally! **UPDATE: despite the quality and high level of adorable of these photos, they were actually taken by the parents and not a hired photographer…there is some serious talent in this family!Meet Tyler and Charles. They are the cutest Pixie hat models on earth. Thank you Diane and Darwin for making this knitter’s YEAR!
