When New England Knits (rav link) arrived in the shop in August, we knew it would be a top seller – but we didn’t know how much we’d be thinking about the patterns throughout this fall. The yarns, the colors, the silhouettes of these garments have caused a bit of an obsession in the shop; we see the New England Knits patterns no matter what yarn we’re looking at.
For example…
Ashfield (rav link). We look at our gorgeous array of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool (rav link), but what we’re really seeing is the Ashfield Cardigan’s lacy details and shaped back. Our pewter buttons sing to us of this cardigan, as well. We can’t think of anything else! Are we stalkers?
Mystic (rav link). We pet the Fibre Company Canopy Worsted (rav link) in the back corner of the store, and we can’t help thinking of the Mystic pullover.
We can imagine pulling this on like a sweatshirt all winter long (and showing off the contrasting pocket linings to anyone who will look). Can you say Thanksgiving Day football game? Yes, you can — if you get your Mystic pullover finished in time.
Next up? Whale Watch (rav link).
We move over to the Canopy Fingering (rav link) – and that says Whale Watch hat to us, with Nantucket charm and Fair Isle styling.
We think this one could be a conversation piece (“You made that? Really?”) throughout the holiday season – and brighten up your winter coat.
Finally, Montague (rav link). Even our new and amazing Teva Durham yarns (sign up for this month’s yarn tasting to try them out!) say New England Knits to us – in the shape of the Montague Bulky Lace Vest. Not only will this one be a relatively quick knit; it’s a great transition piece that will take you from warm October days through our brisker December weather. We can’t get away from this one, either – the reclaimed wood shawl pins at the front of the store are perfect fasteners for Montague.
Keep in mind: Forewarned is forearmed. If you don’t beat us to it, we just might buy up all the yarn in the shop ourselves so we can make these stunning pieces. First one to Fayette Street gets the pick of the colors!
