I have finished two hats this week and am working on a third that I hope to have done by Friday. I don’t know why I am knitting hats…well I sorta do. This first one is Maggie’s Beret, a free pattern at our shop and also a class. I worked on this during a class this weekend so that I would have something to demonstrate the top of the hat with. I used the new Imperial Stock Ranch chunky weight yarn, Native Twist. It holds its shape really well and actually makes the hat wear a bit differently. It looks a lot better on my head than the original. Try it on when you are in the shop next! Since we have the Imperial Stock Ranch pencil roving in the same colors, you could make this little guy to match and have a great holiday gift all done up.
This is what almost became my step-mom’s holiday gift. Then I thought to ask her if she wanted something in particular and got a request for a barn hat and fingerless mitts to be worn in the barn…which sorta changes everything. Now I search for a machine washable solution…which the Imperial Stock Ranch definitely is NOT.
The other hat that I finished is another Poet Society Tam (pattern available online here or in the shop soon). This time I used Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd’s Wool. If you don’t already know about this very cool company, check out our Inspiration page post about them. I am really happy with how this turned out. I am also working on a matching scarf from Jared Flood in Brave New Knits worked in the fingering weight of Shepherd’s Wool.
I swear that I will post another update on our knitalong soon. With the big mysterious event on Friday, things have been crazy over here in space…
