I love finishing things, especially knitting projects. It gives me the perfect excuse to acquire more yarn and start something else. Last week, I finished the Lilas Cardigan – our knitalong for this month. This makes my May sweater complete, a full ten days before the end of May! It definitely can not be worn open. It hangs off of my shoulders in a very odd way, but it is awesome closed! I threw a shawl pin in it, and it was adorable. You may have caught me wearing it over the weekend. Check out the Inspiration page for details on the pattern and photos of others participating in the knitalong.
I also finished the Andrea’s Shawl pattern from Kristen Kapur. I worked the smallest size, which was a huge mistake. It turned out much smaller than the dimensions on the pattern. There is nothing more sad then finishing a shawl and having almost two full balls of Malabrigo Sock leftover. If I keep using small amounts of leftover Malabrigo sock for other shawls, will I eventually use up all of the Malabrigo sock scraps in the house? Has anyone else noticed that those hanks seem to go forever?
I already started on June’s sweater..the Persephone Shell from the latest issue of Interweave Knits. I chose the Hempathy for the body (had to go up a needle size to get gauge) and then the Mulberry silk for the drapey bodice section. If you plan to start this one, be sure to read the pattern notes. The size that you select is not based on chest size, but on the width just under the chest (or the bra line). The pattern is adorable but definitely not for everyone. I am also plotting our next knitalong…more details to come. Be ready to select your yarn in early June. Once the pattern is ready and available, I will post it!
Have you been finishing things too? Be sure to post your finished projects in our new flickr group. They will feed into the Community section of the website very soon! There are already some gorgeous FOs in there.
