Bulky yarn for quick holiday gifts

Bulky yarn for quick holiday gifts

A few quick projects in our bulky weight yarns for holiday gifts this season. These are 3-5 hour projects that are sure to impress and are machine washable!

Hats

urchin

Urchin by Ysolda Teague. A free pattern available on Knitty.com. Yarn options: one skein of Malabrigo Chunky, 2 skeins of Mirasol Sulka or even two hanks of Spud and Chloe Outer.

newsboy

Chunky Newsboy Cap by Diane Serviss, available for $4.50 on Ravelry. I think this would be awesome in Blue Sky Alpaca Bulky. Could also be touched off with a cool button on one side.

Beanie Hat

Our very own Beanie Hat pattern, by Danielle Romanetti and available free at the shop with purchase of yarn. This can be done in one or two colors. We wrote the pattern for Spud and Chloe Outer, but Mirasol Sulka will also work.

Scarves

braided

Braided, a free pattern on the Spud and Chloe Blog. Uses three skeins of Spud and Chloe Outer.

supercozy

Super-fast, Ultra-cozy scarf by Jen Reilly. Free Ravelry download. We recommend three skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca Bulky.

beth

Our very own Beth pattern, which is free in the shop with purchase of yarn. This uses two hanks of Malabrigo Chunky and 2 yards of Hannah Silk Ribbon.

Accessories

chunky purse

Christine Bag by Knitting Nonstop. Also available as a Ravelry download. Here is a customer project done in Malabrigo Chunky. Would also be fab in Spud and Chloe Outer or Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky. (new colors of this arriving this week!) Luckily we have some awesome ribbon to pair with this also.

Sweater

best friend

Best Friend Cardigan by Wenlan Chia, available free online. Before you pass this one over because of time commitment, look at the yardage! This is made with only 330-450 yards of bulky yarn! I think it would be amazing in Imperial Stock Ranch pencil roving, which would keep it lighter. It could also be done in Blue Sky Alpaca Bulky. Pair it with some cute buttons and you have an entire sweater in just a few hours! hmmm…might have to knit this one up myself.
