Last night I had a dream that all of the diamonds fell out of my ring and I was crawling around on the floor looking for them. What in the world does a wedding do to us?!
In other news, i head to Pittsburgh this weekend to run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon…something that I obviously signed up to do long before I knew I was getting married. We leave for Nevis next Friday and I just hope that I am able to apply enough sunblock this weekend to keep the top half of me perfectly pasty pale and without horrible burn / tan lines.
On Monday I found the most amazing shop ever: Trousseau. Locally owned and staffed to the brim with professional and courteous women, this place is a dream come true. I was on the hunt for a proper corset / bustiere, something that Nordstroms and Macys no longer carry in their stores. The local shop in Old Town, named “The Full Cup,” clearly wasn’t going to have something in my size…actually, she sorta laughed at me. But anyway, I went out to Vienna to this place and ended up buying jewelry and a purse. I found the most glam 50s amazing necklace and matching earrings! And this pretty much saved me from 2-3 more hours of making my own jewelry. Of course, I already bought the beads and other supplies, but I figure I will finish it up at some point and wear it with something else. I was never really wowed by my own little creation.
The corset that they had was way too expensive for my budget and required a solid 2.5 inches of padding to make it fit properly, although there is something to be said for 2.5 more inches of chest and a hand made corset. Really, until you have worn one that is hand made…. I actually had to settle for something from Victoria’s Secret, a store that I haven’t stepped foot into in at least 5 years. Has anyone been there recently?! It is filled with retro amazing little goodies. I know that this is just a temporary marketing thing and it will all go away with the change of the season, but I was super excited by the current stock. And I am pretty certain that they have dropped their prices. Or maybe I just haven’t shopped there since I got an adult job with an adult salary..not sure.
So we aren’t going to ask about the wedding wrap in silk straw…I will report on that when I have some happy news.
