According to Nikki, this is how long it has been since I posted. And since that is entirely too much time to allow to pass (also according to Nikki), here I am writing. What have I been doing, you might ask? Well, not knitting. Nope, not one bit. In fact, I *almost* considered riding the metro this morning just for the knitting time. Then I convinced Phil to drive me because the thought of walking from the metro to the office in this cold just seemed like too much after the night I had last night.
Last night I took up a fourth job. I became a cocktail server. Yup. I did. I don’t know why. I have no idea why. Certainly not because I need things to do. I don’t even think it is for the money. I think, rather, that I need something different to do. I loved waitressing back in college. It was wonderful to meet new people all the time, to be instantly rewarded for doing a good job and being able to learn about food and wine was kinda cool for me. (I worked at an Italian Restaurant). So last night I started training and worked from 4:30 until 1 am at this amazing lounge in Old Town. It is a place that I love drinking in, so why not learn a bit about the amazing drinks that they make (and work off some stress at the same time). I will do this three more times until I am able to actually work on my own. And it is only two nights a week…I suppose that isn’t so bad. Maybe I can cut a run out each week since running around in heels must be an amazing workout because my legs are killing me today.
So who caught the “fourth job” part of that last paragraph?
Yup, four. First and foremost is Knit-a-Gogo. I teach three or four classes a week, many many private lessons and do all of the administration of the business. This takes at least 30 hours. I am not even sure. The second is my consulting gig with a former employer who brought me back for 20 hours a week to help them out with their database. I work two days a week from their office and some hours from my home office. The third is Knit Happens. Tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday will be my last shifts there. I swear it. Something has to go! Besides, while I love seeing all of you at the shop, it is a bit hard to work both Knit-a-Gogo and Knit Happens together.
So if for some reason you decide that you just can’t go into work tomorrow, come hang with me. I will be there all day. I love company. But I am leaving at 5:30 on the dot to head to the server job. On the dot…
And tonight? no knitting time tonight either. Private party…a group of friends who are learning to knit together with some wine and cheese. mmm…wine. Maybe that will make my legs feel better?
