I have too much sock yarn

I have too much sock yarn

My friend Jess stopped by tonight to go shopping in my stash for sock yarn for this weekend’s Mitten / Glove class. (St. Elmo’s, Sunday 1-3 pm..few spots still available!) The project is this one. This is a bit scary for me
(not the project, the shopping in my stash thing). I actually have enough sock yarn in my stash that I care so little about, that I am willing to give it to a friend for one of my classes. Now don’t go and get all excited. Jess and I have run a couple of marathons together, so there is a high level of friendship that one must have to get this sorta privilege! So Jess made away with a hank of Dream in Color Smooshy that I don’t even have photos of because photographing it and putting it on Ravelry means that it exists, and we wouldn’t want to admit to that.

So I did a little shopping myself and selected this Woolarina yarn for my fingerless mitts. It is a really odd color. Sometimes I think it is green. Sometimes it looks purple. I think it is green over-dyed with purple, but can’t be certain. One of the wonderful things about Woolarina’s yarn is that it is always something new and different. She doesn’t do “colors” just experiments. I like experiments. It means my yarn is special and unique. I picked it up in December, so it hasn’t had ample time to age in my stash and certainly I have much more vintage fibers in the stash to use, but this one seemed to fit the project.

So the class is on Sunday which is about three days away. I should probably start knitting these things huh? Well shoot…I am finishing up a fabulous project from the Glam Knits book tonight before I get started on the mittens, so pretty photos of that project should be available tomorrow!
