Knitting for the Marines event a huge success

Knitting for the Marines event a huge success

Thank you to everyone who turned out in the pouring rain on Saturday for the Knit-a-Gogo Knitalong, to knit helmet liners for the Marines. Around 20 knitter sat down first at Buzz Bakery and then at Rustico (we kinda overwhelmed Buzz with our numbers) to join Major General Doug Stone along with two other Marines. And they were knitting! Check out these fabulous videos of the General knitting:

Towards the end of the event, the General recruited two additional Marines from the bar area at Rustico and got them knitting with us! Poor guys…they couldn’t say no to the General.

Most of us didn’t finish a helmet liner in one sitting, so lucky for us, there is a second knitalong on Veteran’s  Day at the Marine Corps Museum.
