Book review: Knitting New Mittens & Gloves

Book review: Knitting New Mittens & Gloves

I am working at the shop today filling in for Holly while she is wandering around another country enjoying herself. So of course, new yarn arrived and it is gorgeous, and I fell in love with this color. It is Sea Silk by Handmaiden. So I had no idea what I was going to do with it and then this evil wonderful lady came in and snatched up a hank to make a fingerless mitten pattern from a new book: Knitting New Mittens & Gloves by Robin Melanson.

(This particular pattern is also free online) And of course, the book is in stock at the shop, so I now have a pile started…I swear I spend more money than I make from this job…It’s a good thing that I enjoy it so much 🙂

Anyways, it is a wonderful book. This isn’t even my favorite pattern..there are so many that I want to knit! The back section shows you projects by gauge, so it is a great way to start working through stash yarn. Wow, if only I were good about that. Why use stash yarn when you can buy more, right?

The photography is stunning and the patterns are unique and interesting…and since I already declared this season to be the season of mittens, it gives me even more wonderful patterns to knit for presents!
