This group class will allow students to bring in the project of their choice\, whether it’s a new cast on or something that’s been languishing in the WIP pile. Work through questions or tricky sections with an instructor’s guidance and your fellow knitters’ encouragement. \nSkills needed:\n\n\nBasic knit skills are required. SUMMARY:Introduction to Knitting
DESCRIPTION:Gain the foundations of the knitting craft and start your first scarf! \nThree 1.5-hour classes \nSkills needed:\nAbsolutely none! Our beginner class is ideal for those who are completely new to the craft or who haven’t knitted in many years and need a full refresher. Students must be 16 and older to enroll. \nSkills learned:\n\n\nknit stitch \n\n\npurl stitch \n\n\ncast on \n\n\nbind off \n\n\n“tinking” or working back \n\n\ncommon knitting terms \n\n\nfull fibre education \n\n\nMaterials (all available at the shop for a 10% discount for your first class):\n\n\n250-300 yards worsted-weight wool\, wool blend\, or other natural fibre in a light color. We recommend Manos del Uruguay Alegria Grande or Ideal\, or Kelbourne Woolens Germantown. \n\n\nUS #8 (5mm) bamboo or wood needles in straight or circular. \n\n\nDarning needle or notion kit/set \n\n\n*We recommend not using metal needles\, cotton or acrylic fibres\, or very dark colors\, as they make the learning process more difficult. \nOptional reading materials (one of the following):\n\n\nChurchmouse Yarns The Learn-To-Knit Companion \n\n\nFirst Scarf \n\n\nKnit How by Pom Pom \n\n\nModern Knitting Daily Skillset \n\n\nPreparation:\nBe sure to come to the shop early enough to purchase your supplies and wind your yarn into balls before the start of class (suggested 15-30 minutes).
