Yoko-Yoko Pullover Workshop with Olga Buraya-Kefelian

This simple yet versatile pullover combines Stockinette stitch and gradually expanding 1×1 rib towards the shoulders. It is full of neat techniques that you can learn to make your knitting look impeccable. The perfect relaxed fit of this slightly oversized style will make this your “go-to” sweater.

Three 2 hour sessions

Skills required:

Students should have previously knit a sweater and have the ability to knit in the round.

Skills learned:

  • advanced pattern reading
  • tubular cast on for 1×1 rib
  • German short rows
  • sloped bind off
  • tubular neckline casing for 1×1 rib collar
  • mattress stitch
  • tubular bind off for 1×1 rib

Materials:

To fit bust 28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46, 48-50, 52-54, 56-58)” and intended to be worn with 2-6” of positive ease, or even looser if desired:

  • 1070 (1200, 1330, 1475, 1650, 1875, 2090, 2240) yards of any DK weight yarn. We recommend Hazel Knits Lively DK (90% merino, 10% nylon), 275 yards per 130 g skein  4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 9) skeins
  • US#6 (4 mm) 24” and 16” circulars and set of dpns
  • US#5 (3.75 mm) 24” and 16” circulars and set of dpns
  • US#2 (2.75 mm) circular (any length)
  • stitch markers (regular and removable types)
  • stitch holders
  • tapestry needle
  • crochet hook size US E or F (3.5 or 3.75 mm
  • copy of the Yoko-Yoko Sweater pattern, available on Ravelry

Homework:

Prepare a gauge swatch on the larger needle size and measure to confirm that you have achieved gauge. If gauge is not achieved, prepare additional gauge swatch until you have accurate gauge.  Gauge is: 21 sts and 30 rows = 4” in St st worked flat, measured once washed and blocked.
