SUMMARY:Steeking in Style with Aleks Byrd
DESCRIPTION:Tackle the scary steek and open a whole new world of possibilities with your knitting! Together we will explore two different styles of steek edges\, from the fun of a knotted fringe steek\, great for a shawl\, and the all-around great reinforcement method with crochet. We will finish off with the perfect and super neat steek sandwich band that makes a great finishing touch hiding your steek on a cardigan. \n© Aleks Byrd\nSkill Level\nThis class is for intermediate knitters. Students should be comfortable to knit and purl in the round\, should be comfortable knitting stranded colourwork / Fair Isle\, cast-on\, and bind-off. \nClass Length\n3 hours in person \nMaterials\n\n2 sets of US 8 / 5mm needles for knitting small circumference (DPNs or circular needles for magic loop)\nStitch markers\nSharp scissors\n3-5 mm crochet hook\nWorsted weight yarn (preferably non- superwash —think yarn you would use for colourwork) in 3 contrasting colours in the following approx. amounts:\n\nMC (main colour used in homework swatch) 20g\nCC1 (contrast colour 1 used in homework swatch) 20g\nCC2 (contrast colour 2 used for crochet and steek sandwich band) 10g\n\n\n\nHomework\nStudents will be given instructions to complete a knitted swatch ready to steek. Swatch should take approximately one hour to knit.
