Seaming Your Knits with Toby Roxane Barna
Seamed sweaters can have a more tailored, polished look than seamless ones, but some knitters avoid them simply because they fear seaming the pieces together. After this “life-changing class” (direct quote from a satisfied student), you’ll have the confidence to tackle that pile of sweater pieces in the corner of your living room. The class will cover both stockinette and garter seams. Advance preparation of swatches is required.
Swatches #1 and 2: Using worsted weight yarn and size US 8 needles, cast on 20 stitches. Knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) until work measures 4″. Bind off. Remember to make two of these.
Swatch 3: Using worsted weight yarn and size US 8 needles, cast on 30 stitches. Knit in garter stitch (knit every row) until work measures 4″. Bind off.
Supplies needed: Three swatches listed above, tapestry needle, scrap yarn.
