Short Row Sampler Workshop with Ann Weaver

September 22, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Event Category:

Learn to knit short rows three ways: German, wrap and turn, and Japanese! In this workshop, you will work on the Short Row Sampler cowl, an easy pattern that provides students a chance to learn and practice three ways of working short rows. Then, you can compare the results of the three methods and evaluate their benefits and drawbacks. Never be intimidated by short rows again!

Skills needed: Casting on and working in the round; ability to read a basic pattern

Skills learned: German, Japanese, and wrap and turn short rows with full confidence and joy

Materials needed:

  • Short Row Sampler Cowl pattern (available for purchase on Ravelry)
  • US#6 16″ circular needle, or size to obtain gauge
  • At least 7 removable stitch markers, one distinct from the others
  • DK weight yarn in three colors, approximately 100 yards of each color

Homework: Begin your cowl. Follow the directions under INSTRUCTIONS on page 3 of the pattern until you have worked the 5-round welt, then knit 3 rounds. We’ll get right to the short rows in class.
