SUMMARY:Ladderback Jacquard: Making beautiful long float colorwork with Aleks Byrd
DESCRIPTION:Create beautiful stranded colorwork\, not just from the right side but also the wrong side\, with this game-changing float management skill. Ladderback jacquard will help you manage floats by keeping them short to avoid any snagging\, while also opening up the possibility of knitting patterns that require longer gaps between colors. \nIn the workshop\, we will explore 2 ways of using ladderback jacquard: the first by adding a ladderback stitch while knitting stranded colorwork\, and the second by creating the ladderback stitch after you’ve finished knitting colorwork. \n \n© Aleks Byrd \nSkill Level\nIntermediate knitter; students should be comfortable to knit with two colours doing simple stranded colourwork / Fair Isle knitting in the round. \nClass Length\n3 hours\, in person \n  \nMaterials Needed\n\nUS#6 (4mm) needles for knitting small circumference (DPNs or circular needles for magic loop)\nStitch markers\nTapestry / darning needle\nDK-weight yarn (preferably nothing slippery—think yarn you would use for colorwork) in the following approx. amounts:\n\nMC (main color) 20g\nCC (contrast color) 20g\n\n\n\nHomework\nStudents will be given instructions to have their swatch cast-on to continue knitting in the workshop. \nRecommended (not required) pattern for this class: Rändaja Cardigan\, currently exclusive to Kindred Knits: Patterns from My Estonian Family\, published by Laine Publishing and available at fibre space!
