We’re looking at tanks and tees and vests and shells of all styles\, none of them asking you to pick up for sleeves. Starting on July 3\, and running through Labor Day\, we’ll be working on our best sleeveless projects. \nWe’ve curated some of our favorite inspiration patterns to get you started. If you’re feeling ambitious\, consider a lightweight shell for summer nights and a heavier vest for season transitions. \n*”Sleeve island” is the whimsical term stitchers use to refer to the stage in sweater-making when you’ve finished the body\, the only thing left is sleeves\, and inertia sets in. \n  \nWhat’s a Stitch Along?\nA Stitch Along (or knit/crochet along) is when a group of stitchers work on a similar pattern\, or work towards a shared purpose\, together–that’s it! Some are more formal\, others less so. You guessed it—we want this to be low-stress\, so we’re on the less formal side. \nHow do I join?\nPick your pattern. SUMMARY:Introduction to Knitting
DESCRIPTION:Gain the foundations of the knitting craft and start your first scarf! \nThree 1.5-hour classes \nSkills needed\nAbsolutely none! Our beginner class is ideal for those who are completely new to the craft or who haven’t knitted in many years and need a full refresher. Students must be 16 and older to enroll. \nSkills learned\n\nknit stitch\npurl stitch\ncast on\nbind off\n“tinking” or working back\ncommon knitting terms\nfull fibre education\n\nMaterials (all available at the shop for a 10% discount for your first class)\n\n250-300 yards worsted-weight wool\, wool blend\, or other natural fibre in a light color. We recommend De Rerum Natura Gilliatt or Kelbourne Woolens Germantown.\nUS #8 (5mm) bamboo or wood needles in straight or circular.\nDarning needle or notion kit/set\n\n*We recommend not using metal needles\, cotton or acrylic fibres\, or very dark colors\, as they make the learning process more difficult. \nOptional reading materials (one of the following):\n\n\nChurchmouse Yarns The Learn-To-Knit Companion \n\n\nFirst Scarf \n\n\nKnit How by Pom Pom \n\n\nModern Knitting Daily Skillset \n\n\nPreparation:\nBe sure to come to the shop early enough to purchase your supplies and wind your yarn into balls before the start of class (suggested 15-30 minutes).
