knitting, book, hand knit, models

Knitters who are new to lace, as well as the more experienced will love making and wearing the Short Beach Shawl from the book, Drop-Dead Easy Knits.

In this workshop we will learn to work simple lace patterns — no charts required. We will discuss different yarn options, the possibilities for making Short Beach into a two-color shawl, and learn tips and tricks for creating and adding fringe.

Skills needed

  • Ability to knit and purl is required.
  • Experience increasing and decreasing is a plus.

  • Drop-Dead Easy Knits book
  • Yarn for swatching in a variety of colors all in fingering or sport weight (no lace weight, highly variegated or very dark yarn please)
  • A range of needles in sizes appropriate to the yarn (lace or “sharp” needles with pointer tips are recommended)
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
