Are you ready to expand your knitting horizons beyond simple rectangular scarves? The Jimi Shawlette was designed specifically as a fun-to-knit first shawl pattern for new knitters who are ready to step up their skills. With 2-color stripes and a pretty mesh lace border, Jimi is sure to be a warm and stylish addition to your winter wardrobe. This class is taught by the designer.

Two 2-hour classes.

Skills needed:

This class is rated “funky” – the ability to knit and purl is required.

Skills learned:

  • Triangular shawl shaping
  • Knitting stripes with 2 colors
  • Increases and decreases
  • Using stitch markers
  • Russian bind-off
  • Blocking


  • Approximately 200 yards each of two different colors of worsted weight yarn. We recommend Sweet Georgia Worsted, the Fiberists Audubon Worsted or Neighborhood Fiber Co Studio Worsted.
  • US Size 8 (5.00 mm) 32” circular needles
  • US Size 9 (5.50 mm) DPN, straight or circular (any length cable) for bind-off
  • 4 stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle
  • Blocking supplies if you have them (to be discussed in more detail in the class)
  • A copy of Jimi Shawlette pattern


Be sure to come to the shop early enough to have your supplies purchased and your yarn wound into balls before the start of class.
