Greetings from space! Here’s what’s been happening around the shop this week!
It’s been a busy week in the shop. We are so excited to have the newest member of the Brooklyn Tweed family here at the shop! Quarry is a lovely chunky weight “big brother” of SHELTER and LOFT. The yarn is made from the same base colors, but the spinning process makes them look more striated, like geological formations. The 10 colors in this yarn are inspired by stones and minerals. New Miss Babs is here! Whether you made it to the trunk show this weekend or not, we’ve kept some great new bases in addition to shop favorites. Stop in to check out the new bases – Kunlun (DK) and Keira (heavy fingering) – as well as dozens of colorways in K2, Yowza, Yummy 3-ply, Yummy 2-ply, Yummy Toes, Gradient Kits, and Yet. Cecelia Campochiaro, the author of the thoughtful and immensely interesting Sequence Knitting will be here teaching workshops on September 17th and 18th. This different take on knitting and pattern building bring fresh ideas to bear in ways that are bound to push your creativity. Learn more about the workshops here.
Learn to make the Koto pullover, featured in Brooklyn Tweed’s Wool People 9. This three-week workshop, taught by the designer herself Olga Buraya-Kefelian begins next weekend, on Saturday, September 26. Click here to learn more and register!
Don’t miss out on the Old Town Boutique District Scavenger Hunt! The eighth annual scavenger hunt will be taking place next Thursday – Saturday, September 24-27. Make sure to register to get your official hunt bag, goodies, entries into prize drawings, and passport.
Yoga and Yarn – a fundraiser for Project Knitwell is coming up on Saturday, October 10. Join us for an open and all-level accessible 60-minute yoga practice specifically designed for knitters’ posture, joint health and harmony at Pure Prana. Following the class, we join together here at our shop for refreshments from La Fromagerie, accessing skillful knit instruction or to knit bracelets for the local children’s hospital while socializing with the community. Knitting materials and project kits are available for purchase at the store.
