Supplies
Approximately 560 yds (4 skeins) Pepperberry Knits Soft Spun Solid DK Weight (100% cashmere; 140 yd/128m per 50g skein); one skein each in Kitten (A), Spring (B), Thunder (C), and Pepperberry (D). INSTRUCTIONS
Beginning Using A, CO 1 st.
Row 1 (RS): Kfbf—3 sts.
Row 2 (WS): Sl 1, kfb, knit to end—1 st inc. Repeat Row 2 (for RS and WS rows) 56 times—60 sts.
Body Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, kfb, knit to end—1 st inc.
Row 2 (WS): Sl 1, k2tog, knit to end—1 st dec. *Cut A and join B. Using B, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times. Cut B and join A. Using A, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times.
Note: You can carry the unused color up the side of the work if you prefer; however, I find that this makes the side of the scarf along which the yarn is carried less stretchy and flexible than the other side, so I recommend cutting the colors and weaving in the ends.
Repeat from * 3 times, then cut A and join B. Using B, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times.
Note: I didn’t want to waste an inch of this yarn, so I knit some irregular stripes. If you prefer consistent stripes, skip the section in italics. Cut B and join A. Using A, work as many rows as you can before running out of yarn, being sure to end with a WS row. Join C and work as many rows as necessary for a total of 14 rows worked in A and C, combined. Cut C and join B. Using B, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times. Cut B and join C. Using C, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times. Cut C and join B. Using B, work as many rows as you can before running out of yarn, being sure to end with a WS row. Join D and work as many rows as necessary for a total of 14 rows worked in B and D, combined.

Using C, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times.
Cut C and join D.
Using D, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times.
Repeat from * 3 times, then cut D and join C.
Using C, work [Rows 1 and 2] 7 times.
End Cut C and join D.
Dec Row: K1, k2tog, knit to end—1 st dec. Repeat Dec Row until 3 sts remain.
Last Row: K3tog—1 st. Cut yarn and pull through rem st. Pull tight and fasten off. Finishing Weave in all ends and wet block to measurements.
