The Metro Yarn Crawl has started for 2014! You can purchase a $15 tote and get a 20% discount on all yarn, fibre and patterns at area yarn shops. (yes, we still have totes!)
Each shop is featuring a yarn and pattern. Our shop is featuring a wonderful partnership from Neighborhood Fiber Co and Ann Weaver (of course)! We are featuring the Capital Luxury Sock yarn (a glorious Merino, Cashmere and nylon blend). Here is Ann’s design:
The pattern is free with the purchase of the yarn. It will be available through Ann and Ravelry post crawl.
Nicole and I cast on right away when the yarn arrived last week, hoping to get our versions done by the weekend. Nicole accomplished her goal. I failed miserably. Here is my progress:
Some tips on this pattern…
I used the crochet chain cast on method, which Ann has provided a tutorial for on our blog.
For the first carry section, I carried the yarn loosely as you would for fair isle. After doing one repeat, I realized that this might be too loose. I didn’t stretch them out as much on the second repeat, and I like it much better.
I am also going to weave in the tails as I go, since each section will produce tails. That way it looks neater as I am working, and I won’t have as much to do at the end. This is going to Mexico with me, since the non colorwork sections are just garter and make great beach knitting.
Wish me luck!
