So…yeah…it is entirely possible that I started an original sweater design for Phillip during the first Stefanie Japel event in 2008. I had lots of notes and a schematic and gauge swatches and whatnot. There were plans. Action was taken. Then about four or five days after the workshop, it all came to a screeching halt, and I moved on to other projects. Since that time, the sweater, in its unfinished and very sad state, has sat in my closet in a tub. I told Phillip that he couldn’t get the sweater until after we were married anyway, since there is a boyfriend sweater curse. (The fact that there is a wikipedia entry for the sweater curse makes it even more possible that it is true, right?).
So anyway, we got married awhile ago, in case anyone missed that. Clearly my sweater curse excuse is no longer justified. Since Phil and I decided not to exchange gifts for Christmas (we need a washer and dryer instead), I thought it might be nice to finish the sweater that he has teased me about for literally two years. So here it is, my husband’s cabled sleeve sweater. It was finished just 12 hours after Christmas was technically over. Not too shabby…
He wore it to work today and said that four people actually complimented the sweater! Which is kinda the coolest thing ever. So he must work with some very fashionable patent examiners…
I have long since lost my swatch, my notes, my schematic. So don’t ask for a pattern. I haven’t one to give you. One day, perhaps, I will write a pattern. I suppose if enough of you beg, I might be persuaded. It is basically two giant squares with a neckline and celtic cable sleeves. But given the amount of time it took me to actually knit the sweater, you might have the pattern by December 2012.
